Highlights
Nemea Wine Tasting
Enjoy a wine tasting in the legendary region of Nemea, a wine haven since ancient times. Stroll through the vineyards sprawled across its hillsides, plains and plateaus. Wine was first produced in Nemea almost 3500 years ago. In fact, Homer first referred to this area as “ampeloessa,” or “full of vines.”
Today Nemea is still home to Greece’s most famous wineries, producing the country’s highest-quality wines. You’ll see firsthand how the storied Ayoryitiko grapes produce wines with an unmistakable deep red color and striking aroma.
Nafplion Port
After our tasting, we’ll return to Nafplion where you’ll have free time to deeply explore this beautiful port before we return to the ship. Some of Nafplion ports highlights include:
- Two Turkish mosques.
- The Archaeological Museum of Nafplion, which houses artifacts found in the area from the Prehistoric and Mycenaean eras.
- Municipal Gallery, an arm of the Athens National Gallery.
- The Church of Agios Spyridonas.
- Church of Agios Georgios, home to a number of legendary murals, including a copy of Da Vinci’s “The Secret Dinner.”
