As well as the main town of Chania, there are also many other unique and picturesque villages spread out around the prefecture. Some of these include the villages of Kissamos, Platanias and Akrotiri. Visitors to Chania can enjoy excursions and walks around these villages, where you can sample the traditional village life, and experience a true and authentic way of life of the villagers. Chania is also home to some beautiful churches that are well worth visiting if you have the chance. Some of the most famous of these include "The Catherdral of Chania", "Agioi Anargyroi Church" and "The Gouverneto Monastery".
